Bertinelli recently filed for a legal separation from her husband, and he responded by filing his own court papers claiming the prenuptial agreement he signed prior to their marriage should be thrown out. However, Bertinelli’s attorneys argue that the prenup is still valid. Moreover, the court ruling ordered Bertinelli to pay her ex a whopping $2,2 million. And if Bertinelli doesn’t make that payment by December 31, Vitale will be allowed to remain in the Malibu home rent-free.

Although the split was relatively brief, the marriage did have its share of drama. In fact, Bertinelli and her then-husband, Eddie Van Halen, were often tangled up in property sharing issues. Their son, Wolfgang, also had his share of trouble with his father. But, despite their turbulent relationship, the two managed to maintain a close bond. Aside from a couple of breakups, they were even good friends after the split.

It’s no secret that Eddie Van Halen and his bandmates were among the biggest names in rock and roll, but the storied music star was never far from Bertinelli’s heart. She developed a close bond with Van Halen’s four children, and shared the same passion for music with her late ex-husband. Despite the split, she and her son were by his side during his last moments.

In the midst of her divorce, Bertinelli took to social media to let fans know she was okay. She also shared pictures of her wedding accessories, which include a pair of Jimmy Choo heels with diamond studs and a Tiffany & Co. box.

Several months after the split, Bertinelli listed her three-bedroom Hollywood Hills, California home for sale. The house is located on a mountaintop stretch and has a total of three bedrooms. According to the listing, it has a resale value of $2.5 million. While she didn’t disclose the price, she did mention that she was looking for a new place to call home. Her ex-husband was also a guest at her New Year’s Day wedding.
