Early Life and Education

Professional Career
Vasquez has held national partner responsibility for Corporate Transaction Services at KPMG Peat Marwick as well as being practice chair of their Tax Controversy Section. In his role, he has handled federal, state and local tax controversies that involved examinations, appeals proceedings and litigation before trials took place.
He currently serves as co-pitching coach of the Wichita Wind Surge, an affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. Over his coaching career he has had the privilege of working with Jon Deeble, LaTroy Hawkins, and Luis Ramirez among many other notable pitchers.
Deputies engaged in an undercover narcotics investigation witnessed Alfaro arriving at a 7-Eleven in her Pontiac Sunfire and exit the vehicle to enter Vasquez’s Chrysler LHS driven by Valenzuela as passenger, where Vasquez engaged in countersurveillance driving by making evasive maneuvers to thwart police from following him.
Achievement and Honors
Thomas Vasquez has received several prestigious awards for his work, such as two National Headliner Awards and a Florida Society of News Editors Award. Additionally, he was named as a finalist for both a National Education Writers Association Award and Sunshine State Award; additionally contributing to several medical journals and speaking at conferences.
Thomas is currently in his fourth-year medical student at Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM). He recently won an Alpha Omega Alpha Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship to support his research regarding whether insurance companies are delaying approval of biologic medicines for patients suffering from psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
He enjoys spending his free time playing basketball and was honored as an All-District NAIA Player during his inaugural year at Western New Mexico University (WNMU).
Personal Life
Thomas Vasquez of Moreno Valley, California resides with his wife Anita. As a loving father to Gionni, Santino, Nico, Angelo, and Isabella he also remains close with Mercy and Cristina Vasquez as devoted siblings.
Deputy Smith provided testimony that he received information from an anonymous source about Vasquez and Alfaro selling drugs, and witnessed their arrival at a 7-Eleven parking lot on July 29, 2006 in a black Pontiac Sunfire from which they left and proceed to Alfaro’s apartment where he believed they exchanged them for drugs.
Vasquez left her apartment and drove directly to Carl’s Junior Restaurant where Corall Dawson would meet them for a ride. Once there, Vasquez realized she was being followed and made several swift right turns and countersurveillance driving maneuvers in order to evade police officers. She stated during their trial that they knew they were being monitored but still took several quick right turns in order to evade them.
