Early Life and Education
Thomas Karlick was born and raised in Dunkard, Pennsylvania with his parents and siblings. Following graduation from high school he joined the Marine Corps, serving three tours as a sniper scout before attaining sergeant USMC and being presented the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device award.
Thomas was an enthusiastic supporter of both 03XX Foundation and Battle Borne, contributing to various other organizations as well. Additionally, he actively participated in combatting opioid addiction; unfortunately he passed away on January 27, 2023 in Allentown, PA.
Robert is survived by his wife Victoria Gaumer-Karlick; daughters Amarah and Penelope Karlick; step-siblings Emily Markos and Tyler Breslin; as well as his grandmother Adele Bon-Shannon. Thomas Karlick was an accomplished Marine who earned the rank of sergeant. Having served both Iraq and Afghanistan as a scout sniper, Karlick turned to fitness as a form of self-medication after suffering post-traumatic stress disorder and other health problems; becoming a personal trainer before founding his own gym; competing in marathons and ultra marathons while volunteering his services with charities like 03XX Foundation and Battle Borne. David Karlick was survived by Victoria Gaumer-Karlick as his legal spouse; partner Kari Larson; daughters Amarah and Penelope Karlick, his parents Raymond and Gwendolyn Karlick, step-siblings Emily Markos and Tyler Breslin as step siblings, his grandmother Adele Bon-Shannon as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a great-nephew. David passed away January 27, 2023 and was cremated shortly thereafter.
Thomas Karlick was known for his strong sense of community, acting as both a mentor to veterans and aspiring athletes alike. While in life’s low moments – post-traumatic stress disorder, high blood pressure and other health concerns – fitness was his salvation, becoming a personal trainer before ultimately running ultra marathons and triathlons as part of charity work such as 03XX Foundation and Battle Borne. Thomas Karlick leaves behind his parents Thomas and Lisa Clare Shannon-Breslin; step-siblings Emily Markos and Tyler Breslin; daughters Amarah Karlick as well as numerous aunts uncles cousins nieces & nephews among many other relatives & relations.
