Thomas Cangemi will become President of New York Community Bancorp and its subsidiary Bank as of January 1, 2019, succeeding Joseph Ficalora who is leaving NYCB after 25 years.

Thomas Cangemi has served in various executive capacities within the financial industry throughout his career. Most recently, he was appointed through New York Community Bancorp’s merger-of-equals with Richmond County Financial Corporation where he had served as CFO; at NYCB he now holds positions such as President and Senior Executive Vice President as well as being on both companies’ Boards (including Roslyn Savings Foundation and Richmond County Savings). Before that he had begun at KPMG LLP where he participated in its Financial Services Practice before leaving KPMG LLP to join NYCB’s merger-of-equals merger with Richmond County Financial Corporation where he started as CFO; at KPMG LLP his career started out by being part of its Financial Services Practice team ( he had joined this practice after having begun at KPMG LLP).
