Early Life and Education
Steven Roe was an accomplished acoustic and pedal steel guitarist from Yellow Springs who founded Children of the Light to share God’s love through music with people. Steven had an immense passion for teaching guitar lessons as well as helping others.
Middletown High School hired Roe to take over as girls basketball coach from Terrence Toliver and establish a fiercely competitive culture within his program – so opponents know when playing against Middletown that each encounter will be an intense battle!
He holds both his undergraduate degree in automotive marketing and accounting from Northwood University as well as a graduate degree in management from Southern Oregon University. Currently living in Grants Pass, Oregon with his wife Kristi – an elementary teacher – as well as therapy dogs Molly and Abby,

He is an active member of his community and supports multiple local organizations, such as Grants Pass Relay for Life and Rogue Gateway Rotary. Additionally, he loves spending time with his family and tinkering with technology.
Achievement and Honors
Experienced in bat biology, ecology and survey methodology, Steve is well equipped to offer clients an array of services related to bats. In addition, he holds Natural England Level 3 and 4 bat licenses as an advanced bat survey specialist and completed LANTRA’s CS38 tree climbing course for inspecting high level roost sites.
Roe has an engaging sense of humor that adds a welcome balance to his work, always searching for ways to improve things for Iowa students and willingly making sacrifices in his personal time in service of others.
He volunteers each year with his wife’s third grade class at Allen Dale School, as well as making donations to Josephine County Food Basket, Relay For Life and Junior Achievement. Additionally, he serves on Senator Kyrsten Sinema’s Water Advisory Council.
Steven Roe enjoyed playing pool, darts and Nascar. He also greatly enjoyed trying new restaurants and microbreweries. Steven was proud of being part of the Eagles Fraternal Order where he helped provide nursing scholarships to local college students. Steven was also an ardent Christian who accepted Christ as his Lord at an early age – now resting peacefully in Heaven.
He leaves behind his wife, Jalyn; two daughters; four grandchildren; one brother; and a sister-in-law. Together with Jalyn, they had lived in Holland for many years and took great pleasure in giving back through charity efforts.
Liz is a teacher at Allen Dale Elementary School. The family loves spending time together at their Diamond Lake home and volunteering.
Steven Roe serves as Managing Director for MaxMedia, an independently owned experience design firm. In this capacity he assists clients in designing customer experiences that support business growth while possessing extensive expertise in marketing technology, experience design, and data modeling.
