Steve hunts wild pigs with his canine partner Hank in California’s mountainous terrain. At their wildlife park in Sacramento, Steve works tirelessly with his family members to fulfill their father’s vision.

Early Life and Education

Steve holds an immense respect for animals and the world they occupy, dedicating himself to keeping it a safe environment for both creatures and humans alike. When not busy working to ensure wildlife populations remain healthy, Steve enjoys spending time with his family or relaxing by the beach with them.

He writes columns for both the Jamestown Gazette and Forest Press as well as contributing to other magazines. In addition, he is a prolific speaker who is actively engaged with his community; helping bring back mule deer species while teaching others how to hunt.

In 1991, Steve took over management of his parents park in Beerwah, Queensland. At one of his crocodile feeding demonstrations he met Terri Raines – an American businesswoman who would become his wife in 1992 and go on to have three children together.

Professional Career

Steve Hunt is an outdoor writer whose writing has appeared in publications such as Sports Afield and Deer & Deer Hunting. Additionally, his books focus on hunting and wild game cooking, and he serves on the board of Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association as a board member while teaching young people how to shoot and handle firearms.

His career as a jazz pianist has also been highly successful. He has released two albums and performed across the world. His style of music draws influence from artists such as Joe Zawinul, Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea.

He currently serves as SAP’s Chief Expert of Technology & Work. In this position, he assists customers in understanding and managing the interaction between work and technology. In addition to that role, he regularly presents at major industry events.

Hunter was passionate about wildlife, evidenced by his dedication to improving and expanding the wildlife park he operated alongside his wife Terri. They made a career out of their love of wildlife by helping people around the globe appreciate nature.

He has contributed his guitar playing on numerous acclaimed albums such as Peter Gabriel’s Solsbury Hill, Yvonne Elliman’s Across The Universe and Jack Bruce’s Out of the Storm solo albums – plus Lou Reed’s live Berlin album as well as Rock n Roll Animal band recordings.

Writer John Leach’s work has been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers. His column, “The Everyday Hunter”, won POWA’s Award for best newspaper column three times! Leach has also published three books on deer hunting as well as instructing at Mississippi State University.

Steve Hunter was an outdoor and adventure travel writer renowned for his contributions to Field and Stream, Oprah Magazine and Petersen’s Hunting publications, in addition to writing The Everyday Hunter column for Jamestown Gazette newspaper.

He was an ardent conservationist, working to recover rare and endangered species both domestically and abroad. Additionally, he instilled within his children an appreciation of treating all living things with kindness.

He created some of the greatest guitar riffs ever written for songs like Aerosmith’s Train Kept A Rolling and Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel; also playing acoustic intro for Rock and Roll Animal by Lou Reed. Additionally he is currently licensing music for TV/Film/Chillout projects under his wife Karen under the name Rue la Mer.
