Early Life and Education
Steve Griffith was raised in Cullman, Alabama. As the third generation attorney in his family and has strong roots within his community. His grandfather served as a circuit judge while his father served as Probate Judge and Legal Advisor to former Governor Jim Folsom (deceased).
He played for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers and later represented America at the 1984 Olympic Winter Games. His passion and love for family and friends shone through in all that he did, and his larger-than-life personality brightened every room he entered.
As part of his current position at Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Dr. Alwan is responsible for creating and executing its research strategy. Additionally, he serves as advisor to the UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science as well as Zayed Future Energy Prize Selection Committee member and Emirates Scientific Excellence Award Board member.
