Early Life and Education
Steve Easterday was born into an adventurous household in Hampton, Virginia and spent his early years exploring the balance between exploration and mischief. Skateboarding and music gave his life meaning and fulfillment, giving him purposeful direction during those formative years.
After years in electric power engineering, Steve Easterday and Kim answered God’s call to ministry by moving their family from Chicago to Durango, CO with their children Stephen, Megan, Kaitlin and Connor.
Pastor Easterday dedicated five fruitful years to First UMC Durango as well as serving Peaks & Plains District and Rocky Mountain Conference, community service projects, mentoring youth-based behavioral health facilities and suicide prevention crisis centers.
Steve Easterday has over seven years of experience as a strategist in Growth, Program/project Management and Change Management.
He is an internationally recognized Catholic composer, presenter, and music missionary who has graced parish missions, youth events, concerts, retreats, staff retreats and numerous local ministry gatherings with his humor, story telling and songs.
As parents, he and Kim have four young adult children at various stages of “life building.” Their daughter is happily married to her high school sweetheart and pursuing her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Lafayette Colorado while their sons complete degrees in science at nearby CU-Boulder. Additionally, one son transports hazardous material for a company and is registered motor carrier (USDOT number 395762 and MC number 394648).
Steve was an attentive husband and father. Together with his wife, they had three children — one son and two daughters. Steve treasured spending his free time with his family: fishing, boating and vacationing were among his many hobbies. Furthermore, Steve tirelessly advocated for youth-based behavioral health facilities and suicide prevention crisis centers and made available his talents whenever possible through volunteering efforts.
His true passion was music and he actively participated in many local church ministries involving it, leading tours to the Holy Land and offering primary talks and musical workshops at Catholic events such as Franciscan University conferences. Additionally, he composed modern musical settings for Entrance and Communion antiphons published by OCP in 2021.
