Teacher Accused of Sexual Assault

A 31-year-old teacher from Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference after a woman reported he touched her inappropriately. The Waterloo Region District School Board says it is aware of the allegations made against the man, who taught at MacGregor Senior Public School and coached for the Kitchener-Waterloo Youth Basketball Association. The man has been suspended from his duties with the school board and is not allowed to interact with any students.

The woman told police the incident occurred on Jan. 24 at a home in Kitchener-Waterloo, where the woman was visiting with her mother. She said she was sitting on a couch and drinking coffee when the man approached her from behind. He grabbed her arm and pulled her to the ground. She screamed and tried to run away, but the man continued to assault her. She eventually fought back and hit him several times in the face and chest with her hands and feet. The woman then left the house and called police.

The woman told police she and her mother were visiting the home for a birthday party. She also told them she had been feeling sick. She later went to a hospital, where she was examined and treated for a stomach ache. The woman has since been released from the hospital.
