Liam Hamre – WHL U.S. Priority Draft Pick

Prince Albert Raiders selected Zach Hamre, who led Power 14U AAA program scoring with 48 goals and 81 points last season, with the fifth overall pick in Wednesday’s WHL U.S. Priority Draft. They also selected forward Caden Dionne with 27th selection overall.

John has worked professionally in snow and avalanches for several decades as a mountain guide, educator and curriculum developer. Additionally, he currently conducts research at SARP on decision-making among backcountry skiers.

Professional Career

Ted works for BNSF Railway as part of its Avalanche Risk Management Department and consults on part-time Avalanche Safety projects. He lives on Lake Pend Oreille in North Idaho with his wife Pam and has two children; Tom (son) and Allanna (daughter).

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2018-19): Skated in 34 games, recording six goals and nine assists to lead his team… Recorded two multi-point games against Nos. 17 Quinnipiac (Oct 14) and 20 Omaha (Oct 22), earning plus-6 ratings in both cases… He netted his first career goal and assist against No. 12 Northeastern during a weekend series series (Feb 9-10)…

At the 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft, Prince Albert Raiders selected Hamre fifth overall. Additionally, they obtained forward Caden Dionne from Sioux Falls Power as their second selection.

Achievement and Honors

Award presented to students with an overall grade point average of at least 4.0, who actively engage in extracurricular campus activities and show signs of being prepared to benefit from foreign study and advance international understanding and friendship. Selection made by committee of faculty members within the Department of International Studies.

Grade 11 Honorees include Ram Acharya, Grace Allaire, Spencer Burgess, Hannah Conway, Nathaniel Diers, Tyrin Douangvichit Alexis Foster Silas Frary and Alexander Hagin.

Award given annually by the athletics director in memory of Janis Rider to recognize outstanding character, skill, cooperation, and leadership traits displayed by members of women’s soccer, volleyball or basketball teams.

Personal Life

Liam Hamre lives on Lake Pend Oreille in North Idaho with his wife Pam and has two children – Tom (aged 15) and Allanna, an undergraduate student at University of Idaho. In his free time he enjoys mountain and rock climbing, skiing and is employed part-time by BNSF Railway as an Avalanche Safety Consultant.

Hamre finds great pleasure in playing outdoors – be it mountains, rivers or rocks. Each day where he learns more than he forgets counts as a success for him and he advocates sustainable and responsible tourism and is passionate about nature.
