Lady Gaga’s Venus Outfit Pays Honour to Classic Art

The cover art for Lady Gaga’s latest single “Venus” pays homage to classic art. It features a full-length portrait of the singer wearing an outfit inspired by Sandro Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus painting. And the song itself is a nod to ’80s synth-pop.

For the music video, Gaga’s look pays homage to the painting as well. She wears a full-length dress that’s emblazoned with Venus, the planet that’s the subject of the painting. She also wears a cape with glittering silver stars. After a brief moment of talking to the audience, Gaga takes her place on a c-stage, where she performs the song.

When it comes to her wardrobe, she’s always in search of a new and original look. Whether she’s wearing a fur coat, a pair of aviators, or an outfit made out of raw meat, she’s a fashion icon.

One of the biggest changes Gaga makes to her signature look is her hair. In the “Venus” video, she wears a voluminous brown wig. That’s a change from the natural-looking blonde she wore for the recording. Fortunately, she’s still able to keep her hair on point when she steps out to perform on the stage.

Gaga’s dress is from designer Alexander McQueen. A white and gold gown with pearl embellishments adorned her waist. The dress also has a sheer polka dot train. Interestingly, the designer sent Gaga pieces from his collection for the video.

To complete her look, Gaga sported a mirrored bodysuit that she opened the show in. The audience’s projections of her were reflected in the mirror. Her hair was slightly wavy and she wore a seashell-inspired bra. Afterward, she changed into a pale pink gown.

As a musical artist, Gaga is a pioneer for breaking boundaries and has been a leading figure in the queer community. Although the singer is famous for her provocative looks, she’s also been credited with a talent for crafting her own original and unique style. From the elaborate glitter-glam aesthetic she cultivated before her debut album to her wildly extravagant looks, the pop star has built a career from her artistic exploration of fashion.

“Venus” is an ’80s-inspired synth-pop song that also references the solar system. The video begins with Gaga rising from a Neptune-like pool, and the song’s lyrics name-checks the planets in the sky.

While Gaga is known for her avant-garde fashion and makeup, she’s never been hesitant to go a little rogue with her outfits. At the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, she wore a mermaid-style gown. At the Golden Globes in 2019, she looked like Cinderella.

Throughout her career, Gaga has carved out a spot as a style icon with her edgy, avant-garde looks. Her creative wardrobe has always stood out, and she’s been a master of reinventing herself each year. This year, she’s been busy with a long awards season and a brand-new album. Here are a few of her most memorable looks.

In addition to her wild wardrobe, Lady Gaga has also mastered the art of red-carpet performances. Her first appearance as a leading lady at the Venice Film Festival in 2018 was a regal and lavish affair.
