Kel Good Burger Costume
Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell in a Good Burger Costume
If you’re looking for a costume that’s a bit more than the usual Halloween fare, then the Good Burger costume is a great choice. It’s not only a practical choice, but it’s also one that’s a lot of fun to wear. Whether you choose to wear a burger costume for yourself or for your kiddo, you’re sure to get a laugh out of this ensemble.
For starters, Good Burger is an animated movie that has an unapologetically ’90s feel. It features lots of meat and some of the hottest pop culture names of the era. The ’90s was a golden age for Nickelodeon, and both Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson had recurring sketches on the network’s All That. They also starred in the Good Burger movie.
It’s hard to deny that the Good Burger costume was the first time I saw a Kenan Thompson x Kel Mitchell double-team on screen. That’s not to say that it wasn’t also the last, but if you were a fan of the duo’s previous show, then the Good Burger film might be right up your alley. In addition to the two-some, there was a slew of other familiar faces to catch your eye, including the likes of Ireland Baldwin, Jon Hamm, and Olivia Culpo.
The Good Burger movie isn’t for the faint of heart. The main plotline involves the fictional Mondo Burger, a fast food restaurant that tries to pump growth hormones into beef patties. The Mondo Burger villain sends in a rogue agent named Roxanne to figure out what’s up with the secret sauce. But the real story is the romance between Mondo and a couple of local diners. A naive Ed (Mitchell) is the hero of the story, but he’s got some serious competition for the title.
There’s no doubt that the Good Burger movie is a good one. It’s packed with a number of references to ’90s pop culture, and there’s no shortage of songs that touch on gender-fluidity. But the film’s most memorable moment is a rousing dance number featuring both of the actors. While a tad cheesy, it’s still a lot of fun to watch.
Among the things that made the Good Burger movie an unexpected hit was its clever use of a well-known food industry ingredient. Specifically, it used Elmer’s glue to seal up the burgers, making them look like they’d come straight out of a gourmet restaurant. As a result, Good Burger was able to salvage a budget in its first week. It’s definitely a ’90s pop culture homage that still holds up a decade later.
Whether you opt to go as Kel or Kenan, you’ll have a great time in the ’90s incarnation of the Good Burger costume. In addition to the novelty hat, you’ll also need to invest in a name tag and an adult-sized button-up short-sleeved shirt. And don’t forget the braided wig and black belt. A little ’90s-style swag goes a long way.
