Kanasha Thomas’ Funeral

Kanasha Thomas’ family is raising funds for her funeral expenses. Anyone wanting to donate can do so here – all the funds will go directly to her parents, Shyteanna and Omar Thomas.

Community members gathered together for a candlelight vigil in memory of 21-year-old Kanasha Thomas, with both anger and sadness present at this heartfelt gathering. There were tears shed, embraces exchanged, anger expressed, hugs given and many emotions displayed.

Early Life and Education

Thomas was raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin and attended St. Mary’s School and then Kenosha County Technical College. Throughout his life he was actively involved with Lord of Life Lutheran Church where he served in multiple capacities such as church council, CUSH, Crop Walk, Reader Usher and Greeter roles. Additionally he belonged to Navy Club Ship 40 VFW Post 7308 American Legion as well as Danish Brotherhood Lodge 14. Thomas enjoyed working on cars and tractors, fishing golfing and bowling during his free time – his hobbies also including Navy Club Ship 40 memberships as well.

Shyteanna Thomas was honored at Max Brandon Park in Flint with a candlelight vigil on Sunday evening to remember the 21-year-old who was killed during an early morning shooting that also wounded another individual.

Professional Career

Thomas provides entrepreneurs with legal support when starting up businesses in high tech, life sciences and energy sectors. She advises them on corporate governance matters as well as raising capital to support their expansion plans.

Kanasha also volunteers her services with the American Legion Jesse Clipper Post 430, rendering final salutes and teaching school-age children about patriotism. Furthermore, she serves on the Buffalo Branch NAACP Young Adult Action Committee which addresses education, public safety and social issues impacting young adults.

As an athlete, she has already established herself as one of Bradford’s premier players on the basketball court – scoring 26 points shy of becoming the county’s all-time leading scorer! Additionally, she stands out academically with two advanced placement courses and a 4.0 unweighted GPA.

Personal Life

Thomas was a member of several professional and community groups including Navy Club Ship 40, VFW Post 7308 and American Legion. Additionally, she enjoyed working on old cars and tractors as well as spending time with family.

She was also active in both her church and community. With an outstanding work ethic and always willing to assist those in need, she was an inspirational figure and will be greatly missed by many.

Her loved ones gathered together on Sunday in Flint for a candlelight vigil, sharing memories, hugs and grief at Max Brandon Park on Flint’s north side. There seemed like hundreds of people attending, as members from Flint Northwestern High School majorette team performed before balloon release.
