He is the recipient of many awards and honors including the State of Massachusetts award for Outstanding Service to Youth, the National Education Association’s Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Rhode Island State Teacher of the Year. He was also a finalist for the prestigious Rhode Island State Public School Administrator of the Year award.

He also received a fellowship from the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics for his distinguished contributions to the field of Mechanical Engineering. He was also the founder of the mechanical engineering program at U.C. Irvine and served as the chair for many years.
As a teacher, he is well known for his extensive travels with his students to major historical sites in the United States to share his love of history. His efforts and enthusiasm are highly admired by his students and fellow teachers at North Attleboro High School, where he has taught for 37 years.
