He is survived by his wife Rosalyn; children Cyndy (Jim) Powers of Spirit Lake; Rick Fangman of Cedar Rapids; Kelly Wunsch of Garner; and Joney Coldagelli of New Prague, Minnesota; grandchildren Julie Shaffer from Urbandale and Molly Aranda of O’Fallon Missouri; Megan Jilg from Alton Iowa; Matthew Wunsch from Tulsa Oklahoma; Alexandra Fangman also living in Cedar Rapids; Madeline Taylor in Ankeny; Michael Coldagelli of Eagan Minnesota and Chloe Coldagelli from New Prague Minnesota; great grandchildren Joseph Aranda Jacob Aranda Grace John Paul Aranda Mary Aranda Hannah Shaffer Claire Jilg Calvin Jilg Oliver Jilg all living; sister-in-law Ethel Kohlhaas from LuVerne as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends gathered around him all along with many extended families including nieces/ nephews/aunties!

Personal Life

John Fangman enjoyed a happy life with his beloved wife of more than 65 years, Barbara. Together they raised seven children and were renowned for their kindness and generosity towards others.

He loved red wine, dancing, gourmet meals and big cities. A successful salesman with an affinity for international travel, he would brighten family gatherings with stories about his European adventures or by singing a cappella at the top of his voice.

He was an accomplished woodworker who created rocking horses for each of his grandchildren. Additionally, he served as president of the Iowa and Nebraska Farm Equipment Dealers Association, was a longtime member of Britt Lions Club, and received his Fourth Degree Knighthood from Columbus. An avid fisherman himself, he enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and South Dakota with his family during retirement.
