This award is one of the state’s highest accolades for academic excellence. Each recipient receives a $10,000 grant, held in trust at KU Endowment, that may be used over five years to fund research activities.

This award is open to researchers around the globe and was established in 1981 in honor of Professor Takeru Higuchi, the first president of APhA Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science. He was an influential pioneer of physical pharmacy – now known as pharmaceutics – having published over 300 scientific papers and been granted more than 50 patents.
