John grassi was born in Camden NJ in 1913 to a family that had originally come from Italy. He had several siblings.
He earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Lafayette College and a master of science in childhood education from SUNY Cortland. He currently teaches third grade at Caroline Elementary School in Ithaca, New York.
Grassi was president of Georgetown College from 1812 to 1817, during which time he radically improved the curriculum and public reputation of the school. He also obtained a congressional charter, which was vital for Georgetown’s future. He is often referred to as Georgetown’s second founder.
