John David Minnich began his studies of political philosophy as a teenager; but then an opportunity arose to travel on a research trip through China that changed everything for him.

Minnich is now a doctoral student at MIT and using his newly acquired experience to investigate how states use trade and foreign investment policy to advance their political goals. Additionally, he is compiling an archive of Chinese industrial and technology policies from years gone by.

Early Life and Education

Minnich was born November 11th 1835. He lived most of his life in Clarke County Ohio.

He was an active member of the German Baptist Church, serving as superintendent of Sabbath schools for an extended period. His faith in Jesus Christ was strong.

As soon as he reached 18 he decided to join the Church, becoming an enthusiastic and devout follower ever since.

He identifies with the Republican party in politics. Additionally, he advocates strongly for education and moral training programs.

He has always remained optimistic, believing that honest work done under sound judgment cannot fail to bear fruit in the end. A man of both high moral and intellectual standing in his community, he has dedicated himself to serving its interests while taking pride in all that he has achieved over the years.

Professional Career

Minnich is a financial advisor based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan who holds a Series 63 license and has 22 years of experience in the field.

He enjoys playing golf and tennis in his free time as well as reading.

Throughout his career, he earned numerous accolades. These included being selected to the All-America first team and leading his Foothill Conference Championship winning squad to victory.

He has also earned recognition for his work as a filmmaker, having written and directed various narrative short films as well as three long documentaries.

He has been nominated for the IDA/David L. Wolper Student Documentary Achievement Award and has won awards from a variety of countries and organizations, with his graduation film HEAVEN ON EARTH receiving both the Babelsberg Media Prize in Germany and FIPA d’Or in Biarritz; its theatrical release took place within Germany and later broadcast across Europe and Asia.

Personal Life

David Minnich was an esteemed husband, father and grandfather. Additionally, he was highly esteemed within the community as an active volunteer.

His hobbies included football, shuffleboard and guitar playing – he even joined Friends in Harmony Barbershop Harmony Society!

He was also a dedicated member of the First Unitarian-Universalist Church and choir in San Antonio, Texas.

Born in Chicago, Illinois to Wilbert Phares and Rose Mae Minnich. Married initially to Ruby Irene Diersing; together they had three children before later meeting Martha Teinert Cooley (Martha Teinert Cooley was their wife; they later got divorced on May 6, 2006).
