Who is John Danielson?

John Danielson, MD, is a board certified Otolaryngology and Plastic Surgery Specialist. He practices at 8053 Cleveland Pl, Merrillville IN 46410.

John is a member of the Medical Association of Indiana and the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He also serves on the board of a number of other organizations.

Early Life and Education

Danielson was born in Waltham, Massachusetts. He was raised in a family with a strong sense of community. He served with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and later worked as a painting contractor.

Early in his career, he realized that the private sector, working closely with public entities, has an important role to play in creating improved education systems and technologies for all children. In 2005, John co-founded the international education consulting firm Chartwell Education Group LLC along with former United States Secretary of Education Rod Paige.

Today, he provides thought-leadership, advice and counsel across the domestic and international education sectors. He serves on the boards of Declara (Palo Alto), Magnus Gyan (New York), Vatterott Educational Centers (St. Louis) and The University of the Potomac (Washington). He is also a Senior Advisor to American Prison Data Systems and Speakaboos.

John Danielson co-founded an education company serving the academic and behavioral needs of at-risk middle and high school students in many of the nation’s largest urban school systems. These innovative schools demonstrated substantial student academic growth and considerable reductions in district-wide crime rates.

He also served as a senior aide to the United States Secretary of Education and later Chief of Staff for Rod Paige. He is a board member of the USC-Schwarzenegger Institute for Global Policy and the AfterSchool Alliance.

He was honored for his contributions to the community by receiving the Volunteer Fund Raiser Award from the City of Houston, Texas. He was also named a Sagamore of the Wabash by the Governor of Indiana. In addition, he was a member of the President’s Council, Well House Society, Twelfth Man Club, Pacesetters and the Society for the Friends of Music.

Personal Life

John Danielson grew up in Sweden and immigrated to the United States when he was young. He was a member of the YMCA national staff and devoted his life to helping disadvantaged children in his community.

He had a passion for teaching and ensuring that all children have the opportunity to receive an excellent education. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

He was a founding partner of Community Education Partners, Inc. and Chartwell Education Group LLC, an international education-consulting firm. He presently holds a position of Chairman at Education Management Corp. and serves on several boards. He was also a former Chief of Staff at the United States Department of Education. He earned a reputation for his ability to adapt innovative business strategies and tactics to resolve issues facing public education.
