A British singer, songwriter, guitarist, and composer, john borrell is known for his contributions to the music industry. He has formed the band Razorlight and has received a lot of recognition.
He is also known for his book The White Lake. It is a great story that revolves around his mid-life crisis.
Early Life and Education
John Borrell grew up in the Hampstead area of London, England. He attended St Anthony’s Preparatory School before moving to Paris and studying at the Ecole Active Bilingue Jeannine Manuel.
After returning to England he attended Highgate School with former bassist of The Libertines and frontman of Yeti John Hassall. He completed his A Levels in English, French and Philosophy at Fine Arts College in Belsize Park.
In 2000, he invented Razorlight, an experimental band that combined two of his patented innovations – music and drainpipe jeans. The band’s first single “America” reached number one on the UK charts in 2006.
He’s a former Socialist minister who headed Spain’s foreign affairs portfolio and he’s now the European Union’s high representative for foreign policy. His job is to lead a European diplomatic corps with 4,000 officials, travel constantly to summits and take part in meetings at the European Council when foreign policy issues are discussed.
Despite his relatively modest political pedigree, Borrell’s experience and network are what make him the perfect choice for the role. He’ll need all that if he hopes to deliver what EU leaders have set as one of their top four priorities: uniting and asserting the bloc on the world stage.
In July, the European Council tapped Borrell to be the new EU’s top diplomat. He was appointed to replace Federica Mogherini and will start in November.
