Jack Wilkerson – A Lifelong Southern Baptist
Jack Wilkerson may be unknown to most Southern Baptists, yet has likely made their convention annual meeting run smoothly over the last 14 years.
He has developed relationships with local officials and businesspeople. When planning meetings five to seven years in advance, he visits each city 8-10 times during that year prior to it taking place.
Early Life and Education
Jack Wilkerson has been an invaluable member of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina for his entire life, serving on its Executive Committee as vice president for business and finance to ensure an excellent annual meeting experience for thousands of messengers who arrive each year.
Author of numerous books such as, The Cross and the Switchblade, Revival on Broadway, It Is Finished, Hungry for More of Jesus, World Challenge; these publications encourage churches to follow God’s teachings while increasing evangelism and outreach initiatives.
Youth Crusades and CURE Corps were also founded to spread the Gospel around the globe, while he and Brenda are actively involved with their local church, where he serves as Life Group teacher and deacon. Together they have two married children as well as four wonderful grandchildren!
Professional Career
Wilkerson not only engages in teaching and research activities but is also dean of Wake Forest University’s Wayne Calloway School of Business and Accountancy. In addition, he serves on Pathways Commission on Accounting Higher Education as well as being part of AICPA Task Force on Future of Learning.
Wilkerson currently leads the Funny Car standings with two events remaining this season by 51 points over Jack Beckman and 69 over Cruz Pedregon.
Jack graduated from Long Beach State and Whittier Law School before opening a law firm with his brother Travis. Their firm handles family law cases as well as representing professional athletes and understanding the surf industry.
Achievement and Honors
Jack Wilkerson served on the Executive Committee for over three decades, lending his thoughtful leadership in behind-the-scenes planning meetings that were crucial to its success. Known for his strong work ethic and devotion to family, friends, and community.
Wilkerson also hosted news-talk shows on KMOX, including an award-winning morning drive-time program. Wilkerson credits legendary KMOX broadcaster Jack Carney with teaching him radio techniques and comedy as a whole.
He was a member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church and leaves behind his wife Dona; children Billy Jack Wilkerson and Cindy Wilkerson of Antlers, Oklahoma and Lajauana Milam with her husband Phil Milam of Ardmore; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; four sisters; and two brothers. A funeral service was held Friday at Mora Baptist Church.
Personal Life
Jack Wilkerson leaves behind his wife Brenda; two daughters Nancy and Jackie Marie Cardenas; three great-grandchildren including twins; his sister Norene Womack of Deadwood Community and numerous nieces and nephews; as well as being an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Carthage.
Before joining Wake Forest, Mr. Gaffney taught accounting at Bob Jones University and the University of Georgia and served as a consultant for Arthur Andersen and the United States Department of Justice.
Jack was an integral part of helping people come to know Christ during his tenure on the Executive Committee. Often seen behind-the-scenes preparing meetings and working to bring Jesus closer to each city they visited – he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He has amassed much wealth through his business acumen and financial expertise, having founded and invested in numerous companies over time.
Robert has served on the boards of numerous public companies and holds both a CPA certificate as well as working independently as an advisor and consultant.
Wilkerson established Teach Every Nation, an innovative educational ministry he launched in 2013. Through the initiative, indigenous leaders from across their respective communities are recruited and trained in order to conduct life skills courses within their local communities.
He enjoys making friends and followers through various means, preferring night work over day. Living in Enterprise, Alabama with his family he is vegan and dedicated to eating healthful food.
