Jack Seppings ’25 Heads to Great Britain For the 2023 World Baseball Classic

Jack Seppings ’25 recently impressed at New Orleans during Brown’s weekend series against them and quickly traveled out west for Arizona to attend Great Britain’s minicamp ahead of the 2023 World Baseball Classic as part of their taxi squad, meaning he may replace injured players at any point during pool play.

Early Life and Education

Jack Seppings, a sophomore on Brown baseball team and member of Great Britain National Team practice squad for 2023 World Baseball Classic. Prior to this he has represented Great Britain at international tournaments held in Italy and Switzerland as a U18 national player.

He also competed at club level for Sox Baseball, Team Elite, and the ABA Braves. Additionally, he is an honor roll and AP scholar student, holding dual citizenship with both America and Great Britain.

His academic and baseball programs at Brown are to thank for his growth both on and off the field.

Professional Career

Jack Seppings ’25 of Brown University baseball team made headlines this week as a relief pitcher who pitched two scoreless innings against University of New Orleans (9-5 loss). He struck out five batters while only walking one batter.

Recently, Seppings was named to Great Britain’s taxi squad roster for the 2023 World Baseball Classic in Phoenix. He will attend their minicamp and be available as needed to replace any player on their active roster should an injury occur.

Qualification for Great Britain national team can be a complex process. A player must first meet eligibility requirements such as playing Ivy League level football or above and being dual citizen in America, before taking part in a medical examination – this step must occur before playing any tournaments or qualifying tournaments.

Achievement and Honors

Jack Seppings has earned numerous accolades while representing Brown baseball. Most recently, he earned All-Ivy League first team recognition alongside senior outfielder Derian Morphew and freshman designated hitter/outfielder Mika Petersen.

He has also been honored with selection to the PGCBL All-Star team and competes for Great Britain national team.

He played on a team that traveled to Italy and Switzerland – an honor for someone with dual citizenship between America and Great Britain. Additionally, he has been named to the Great Britain National Team practice squad for the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

Personal Life

At Brown University, he also competed for Great Britain National team in tournaments in Italy and Switzerland, ultimately holding dual citizenship with both nations.

Horatio Dundas has three children: Charlotte and Fanny as well as an Irish servant named Padeen Colman. Furthermore, his son Horatio serves in the Royal Navy under Captain Heneage Dundas.

Amsterdam trailed the second game of their doubleheader 2-0 through six innings before Zach Eldred and Bruer Webster hit back-to-back home runs to tie it at four in the seventh inning and give Amsterdam hope of an upset win. Jack Seppings closed out their win by pitching an unblemished ninth for Amsterdam.
