Early Life and Education
At Choate, he was well-liked and enjoyed playing a variety of sports – especially football – as well as reading. Joe was especially keen to learn electronics as his father’s business focused on electronics manufacturing. Unfortunately, due to a severe back injury he could no longer play football professionally.
After graduating in 1970 and entering theological seminary, he met Scarritt professors that would become longtime friends and colleagues. In this timeframe he also began editing Religious Education journal and lecturing at UMC board and JED events; his pedagogy focused on helping religious leaders claim their own theological education as well as inspiring it in others; this theme eventually formed into A Deacon’s Heart which has made an immense contribution to Christian religious education worldwide.
Professional Career
Jack brings over thirty years of business experience in bio-pharma and life sciences industries. He has designed numerous substantial projects and served as expert witness in numerous legal proceedings pertaining to engineering and technology issues.
Jack also provided software development assistance for NASA’s Space Shuttle mission, helping create its onboard computer system rated with Capability Maturity Model Level 5 maturity rating (the highest possible). At IBM Federal Systems he served as program manager overseeing development of Shuttle flight software.
At Sidley, Jack specializes in white collar criminal defense, securities enforcement and internal investigations. He has successfully represented individuals and companies involved in cases involving securities or financial fraud; regularly appearing as lead counsel before the Department of Justice, Securities Exchange Commission, federal and state regulators as well as on appeal.
Achievement and Honors
Jack is a proud veteran of the United States Army. He earned the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Award, and Combat Infantry Badge during his service.
CTU has also bestowed him with several honors and awards, such as the Director’s Commendation. On numerous occasions he was named “Top Agent”.
He has worked for various agencies including those of both governments – US and Russian. Additionally, he worked alongside his old friend Kim.
Kim and Jack share an antagonistic relationship; she often allows him access to CTU resources without her superior’s permission, often demanding she endanger her career to follow his orders; something which she did reluctantly several times. In Seasons 4-6 he drives a Toyota owned by CTU instead of his GMC Yukon; also seen driving are black SUV and blue SUV models.
Personal Life
Jack attended Choate Preparatory School, a private prep school in Connecticut. There he became popular and even played football and tennis. With an analytical mind capable of solving complex problems quickly and logically, Jack excelled as both a songwriter and singer for Fun, Taylor Swift, St Vincent as well as tattooing two tattoos himself while solving crosswords using pen.
Hallmark series “When Calls the Heart” has featured numerous romantic pairings on-screen. Of these couples, none is more beloved than Jack (Daniel Lissing) and Elizabeth (Erin Krakow). Unfortunately, this storyline was discontinued during Season 5. With regards to Daniel Lissing leaving this role behind him he has focused on his music career while planning an upcoming movie project.
Net Worth
Music became his life, leading him to take up drumming in local bands before founding Dead Weather with White Stripe member Dean Fertita and guitarist Jack Lawrence of the White Stripes – they released three albums and numerous singles together as the group.
During this time, he made guest appearances in many popular television series such as Life Goes On, Northern Exposure, Mr. Show, Picket Fences and The X Files; as well as appearing in some movies such as Airborne, Bob Roberts Demolition Man and Dead Man Walking.
He has collaborated with artists like Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey and Carly Rae Jepsen to produce their songs and lend his voice for video games; additionally he owns his own production company and charges acting fees when appearing in movies or TV shows.
