Jack Geckler has the ability to balance his creative and practical sides. His career began at Disney as a puppeteer/actor where he learned realistic movement simulation. Following graduation from Full Sail he joined Genuine Games working on their Fight Club video game for Xbox and PlayStation 2. Now his credits span gaming, television, film and more!

Early Life and Education

John Ford Geckler hails from Kenmore and Buffalo, New York and attended State University of New York at Buffalo where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Concurrently he studied at Full Sail Film School where his film Automaton Transfusion premiered at Mann’s Chinese Theater during Screamfest. Since graduating he has gone on to work for various studios such as Pixomondo, Genuine Games, Industrial Light & Magic DreamWorks Animation as an Animation Lead/Crowd Supervisor; currently though Digital Domain where he serves as Animation Lead/Crowd Supervisor as well. Additionally he is also an accomplished musician having produced mixed & mastered records for numerous musical artists over time.

Professional Career

Geckler graduated from Full Sail’s Computer Animation degree program and since has collaborated on multiple film and video game projects as well as hosting his own podcast about 3D technology titled Reality Capture Network.

At Digital Domain in Los Angeles, he is currently employed as a lead crowd artist on movies like How to Train Your Dragon 2, Kung Fu Panda 2 and Alice Through the Looking Glass, in addition to video games such as Madden NFL, WWE SmackDown vs RAW and 50 Cent Bulletproof.

As a hobby, he enjoys playing guitar and singing at local venues in his free time. Among others, he has performed alongside iconic music artists such as Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani, and N*E*R*D.

Achievement and Honors

Geckler graduated from Full Sail’s Computer Animation bachelor’s program where he learned the techniques for producing 3D art for films or video games. Since graduating, he has held roles at several notable studios including Digital Domain and DreamWorks Animation where he served as lead crowd artist on How to Train Your Dragon 2.

He collaborated with some of the industry’s most acclaimed musicians, such as Pharrell Williams, Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Lenny Kravitz, Little Big Town and Snoop Dogg. Additionally, his music can be heard in Star Trek and Star Wars movies.

Chance Glasco, another graduate from this school, currently works for Activision video games to create animations for weapons in Call of Duty franchise games.

Personal Life

John Ford Geckler was born in Ohio on the month day in birth place. A graduate of The State University of New York at Buffalo, he excelled at playing acoustic guitar at coffee houses while fishing, hunting and scuba diving were some of his passions; target shooting was another. With 13 siblings, Geckler had quite an extraordinary life.

After graduating from Full Sail, he started work on his debut independent film Automaton Transfusion and has since gone on to collaborate on commercials and video games projects as well as commercial animation. Since joining Digital Domain Los Angeles he has served as Animation Lead/Crowd Supervisor on several films while also working for Pixomondo/ILM/DreamWorks Animation; when not in Los Angeles he loves fishing/hiking/backpacking/scuba diving!
