Jack Dodd, a Rising Star on the Irish Showjumping Circuit, Has Passed Away

Jack Dodd earned a master’s degree in sports management in England. Previously employed at Crystal Palace as academy and technical scout and at Scout7 where he created player data management and recruitment systems, among other duties.

Dodd is an extremely intelligent man and works extremely hard on his research. He always encourages his students to strive harder.

Early Life and Education

Jack was quick-witted and enjoyed all things vintage. With a thirst for adventure and an accomplished pilot (he flew a 1962 Ford Falcon and later 1952 Cessna), Jack enjoyed traveling and shared tales about his travels through storytelling.

When World War II broke out, he joined 27 Mt Hope young men to enlist, leaving Port Lincoln for Adelaide as part of an organised convoy. An informal farewell party at Kapinnie Hall took place as they disembarked – featuring dancing and singing performances to bid them farewell.

His family was an integral part of his life; they loved and deeply miss him, leaving Kay as well as Desmond Dodd and David Dodd behind as legacies.

Professional Career

Jack Dodd was one of Ireland’s rising showjumping stars and recently made headlines when he joined the Young Riders Academy. Hailing from Coolcronan in Foxford County Mayo and competing internationally successfully over time.

Portland Timbers announced on Thursday that jack dodd has joined their club as Technical Director, overseeing player pathways across their Major League Soccer and Next Gen teams. Prior to that he served Toronto FC as Assistant GM of Player Personnel & Scouting over nine seasons.

Dodd credits Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables and defensive ends coach Marion Hobby with providing him the foundation he needs to thrive at the next level. His goal is to set an example for up-and-coming players by showing that hard work pays off and they too can achieve their dreams.

Achievement and Honors

Irish showjumping community is mourning Jack Dodd, 25, who died last week following a car accident in Belgium. Hailing from Co Mayo and making waves within the sport over recent years with victories at European young riders championships and joining Ireland’s senior Nations Cup squad, Irish riders mourn his untimely death with great sadness.

Christopher was an active member of his church, the Presbyterian Church of Florida, as well as an avid sports supporter. His passions included fishing and raising Grand Champion Polled Hereford cattle.

Personal Life

Overnight, the world was rocked with grief at Irish showjumper Jack Dodd’s tragic death from an accident last week. Just 25-years old himself, Dodd had already made waves internationally as part of an elite Nations’ Cup team just two years ago.

Jack Dodd joined the military when WWII broke out, becoming one of 27 enlistees from Mt Hope who left for Adelaide at the end of June 1940. A social evening at Kapinnie Hall before their embarkation leave allowed them to enjoy dancing and singing before embarkation leave was taken up – with dancing and singing being on offer among many attendees!

Dodd is one of the key figures on the Timbers soccer side and will play an essential role in player acquisition and management duties. His experience spans nearly 25 years.

Net Worth

Dodd was honored with many accolades during his life, such as receiving the Hector Medal from the Royal Society of New Zealand. Additionally, he wrote numerous books on physics and was the editor of Festschrift honoring George Series as his friend.

In 1948, he married Mildred Ethyl Evans and gave birth to 6 children: Ross Hilaman Dodd, Jackson Dodd, Jesse Dodd, Anna Dodd and William Dodd. Additionally, he was an ardent grandfather to Vann Hilaman, Christna Hoffman Kaylee Owens and Hayden Dodd – proud members of his extended family!

On March 19th 1949 he married Lonsul Faye Dodd (Lily). They then settled in Indiana before his passing away at age 83 on the 28th March 2009 from Texas where they are both interred at burial place.
