How to Make a Growing Christmas Tree For The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker’s growing Christmas tree is a wonderful stage decoration. In the ballet, the tree starts out only six feet tall, but as the performance progresses, it grows from nine to twenty feet. It is powered by a mechanical mast motor that allows it to grow to its full height. The stage tree is a triangular structure that begins folded and then grows as it raises. The lighting changes dramatically from a simple white tree to one that is almost full height when it is nearly at its peak.
