She made her debut on The Mary Tyler Moore Show as the upstairs neighbor of Mary Tyler Moore. She also starred in several seasons of the show. She won three consecutive Emmy Awards for her role as Rhoda Morgenstern. She was a regular in the first four seasons of the show, as well as appearing as a guest star in later seasons. She was one of two cast members to appear in every episode. She was married to wealthy Chester Tate (Robert Mandan) in the early seasons, but separated from him in later seasons.
