George Winkle

Rip Van Winkle is the protagonist of an allegory by American author Irving, in which he flees his hen-pecked wife with his gun and dog before heading up the Catskill Mountains.

This story depicts the American Revolution, when colonial subjects felt an increasing tide of discontent against English rule. This rebellion caused a dramatic shift in global power dynamics.

George Winkle was born in 1895 to Robert A. and Mary E. Winkle and passed away in May 1983 at the ripe age of 88.

He was interred in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
