George Dowdie is the Executive Vice President of Global Supply Chain at Starbucks Corporation, responsible for all aspects of their end-to-end supply chain from procurement to manufacturing and distribution – as well as critical quality and food safety initiatives.

Before joining Starbucks in 2013, he served as senior vice president of global R&D and quality at Campbell Soup Co. Additionally, he held leadership roles at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons and Frito-Lay.

Early Life and Education

George Dowdie was born on 17 January 1863 in Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester to Welsh parents. He received his early education in Pembrokeshire and Llanystumdwy, Caernarfonshire.

He received his education at Llanystumdwy National School and from tutors. His uncle Richard Lloyd – a shoemaker and committed Liberal – had an influential role in shaping him, inspiring him to enter politics.

George has extensive leadership experience in food safety and quality strategy, research and development, new product development/commercialization, innovation management and new business development across a variety of consumer product industries. He holds a Ph.D. in Food Science & Technology from Louisiana State University as well as a B.S. from Tuskegee University; additionally, George is an active member of the Institute of Food Technologists and received Campbell’s Influence With Honor leadership award in 2005.
