George Cline – A Very Influential Person in His Field
George Cline is an eminent figure in his field. For many years he served as professor at JSU, teaching courses on biology, ecology, conservation, animal behavior, herpetology and vertebrate anatomy.
On February 10th, 2019 he passed away leaving the campus in mourning. As a beloved member of the JSU community, his loss is felt deeply by everyone here.
Early Life and Education
Early childhood education aims to give children a variety of sensory-driven and practical experiences that will aid in the development of social, emotional, and academic abilities. These are essential for them to be ready for later life activities like problem-solving, healthy risk taking, and self-confidence.
Jean Rousseau and John Dewey were two of the pioneers of this type of education, and many of their ideas still influence classrooms today.
Children develop basic social and emotional skills during this time, such as self-assurance, self-regulation, positive self-belief, expressing emotions and needs openly, being a friend to others, learning from others’ strengths, and appreciating one’s unique qualities. They also begin to understand themselves better through this period.
George Cline enjoyed a renowned professional career in music. She was one of the most renowned country singers during her heyday and achieved numerous hits with her songs.
She began her professional music career at an early age when she joined a local band led by Bill Peer. This early exposure honed her singing abilities, leading her to perform on various radio and television shows throughout the years.
She signed with Four Star Records in 1954 and enjoyed some early success with her singles. Additionally, she made a national TV appearance on Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts in 1957 which catapulted her to new levels of fame. She remained active in the entertainment industry until her untimely passing in 1963.

George Cline achieved a multitude of professional successes during his lifetime. He was an acclaimed cattle rancher, calf roping champion and rodeo competitor; furthermore, his books have been translated into numerous languages.
He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty during World War II. Additionally, he served as professor at George Washington University, earning several prizes for both his teaching and research efforts.
He is a renowned scientist who studies virology, molecular biology, viruses and Epstein-Barr viruses. He has published 20 books which have been translated into 19 languages and won book awards. Additionally, he is an engaging lecturer.

He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in computer science and applied mathematics from the University of Akron, is an ethical hacker, and has completed Microsoft Azure Cloud trainings. He currently resides with his family in northeast Ohio and loves to travel whenever possible.
