Prosecutor David Fornshell

David Fornshell is a prosecutor in Warren County who has earned national and international recognition for his work in the courtroom.

He is dedicated to safeguarding and protecting public safety. This includes addressing school-related threats and other violent crimes against schools.

Early Life and Education

David is a seventh generation Warren County native who was raised in Lebanon/Turtlecreek Township. He attended Lebanon High School and Ohio University.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio University and went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California – graduating in the top 10% of his class. During this time at Pepperdine, he served on their Law Review, Moot Court Board, and as a legal research and writing teaching assistant.

He has served on the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, Ohio Prosecuting Attorney’s Association Executive and Legislative Committees, Warren County Drug Task Force Policy Board, Child Advocacy Center of Warren County Steering Committee, Ralph J. Stolle Countryside YMCA Board of Directors and many other volunteer boards and committees.

Professional Career

David has an impressive legal career that includes stints as partner at Dinsmore & Shohl and Prosecutor for Warren County. Additionally, he has served on numerous community boards and committees.

David as Prosecutor has made keeping the community safe a top priority and is renowned for his public education and outreach initiatives. He serves on the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force as well as numerous other community and law enforcement committees. Recently, David took advantage of school visits in Warren County to highlight his office’s initiatives and programs. During these visits, he also developed age-appropriate presentations on topics like school threats, date rape, and juvenile decision-making.

Achievement and Honors

David is an accomplished attorney whose accomplishments extend far beyond the courtroom. He has served as a leader in his community by being part of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, Ohio Prosecuting Attorney’s Association Executive Committee, Warren County Drug Task Force Policy Board and Child Advocacy Center of Warren County Steering Committee.

He has also been a proud father to three children and supportive husband to his wife Amy. In addition to his professional pursuits, Fornshell and his family enjoy playing sports and being involved with Lebanon Presbyterian Church. A native of Lebanon, Ohio, Fornshell graduated from Lebanon High School before earning a degree in Finance from Ohio University. Since 1999 he has been practicing law as part of the Warren County Bar Association.

Personal Life

David has lived in Lebanon for over ten years and is actively involved in local organizations. Together with his wife Amy, he and Amy have three children and are members of Lebanon Presbyterian Church.

He also volunteers as a coach for youth football, basketball, baseball and fast-pitch softball teams in the Lebanon area. Additionally he serves on the Warren County Drug Task Force Policy Board, Ohio Prosecuting Attorney’s Association Executive Committee and Child Advocacy Center of Warren County Steering Committee.

Since joining the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, David has intensified their community outreach initiatives. He created and conducted age-appropriate presentations for many high school, junior high school and middle school students on topics ranging from school threats to date rapes to juvenile decision making.
