Early Life and Education
David Foltyn was born and raised in West Bloomfield, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan where he earned degrees in business administration and law. Following his marriage to Elyse — also a lawyer — they had seven children together.
He currently sits on the board of directors for United Way for Southeastern Michigan and is also involved with both Downtown Detroit Partnership and Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce.
He is the child of Holocaust survivors, having been named after those lost during battle by his wife Elyse. A deacon and member of St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church in Katy and Shrine of the True Cross Parish in Dickinson, he was ordained to the Sacred Order of Diaconate in 2017 and will be officially ordained into the priesthood on June 2 at Co-Cathedral of Sacred Heart in Houston.
