The Life of Daniel Koranteng
Juliana Koranteng was 64 when she died on February 6th 2022 and founder of JayKay Media Consultancy and several publications in the U.K.
Koranteng is widely known for his sharp words directed towards anti-Phobians, Manchester United fans and certain tennis superstars. Additionally, he employs an unusual alter ego, “The Oracle”, who appears whenever sport predictions are needed.
Early Life and Education
Acclaimed for his in-depth analyses and humorous approach to football games, he has quickly established himself in Ghana’s media. Furthermore, he is an active activist who fights tirelessly on behalf of communities affected by mining activities.
Hannah Owusu Koranteng and he are proud parents to Akua and Kojo. Hannah Owusu Koranteng is an active activist, often visiting mining communities to provide training, legal aid and legal support.
Their first child, Kwaku Asiedu-Koranteng was born with brain damage. However, this experience taught them compassion for those in need and they encourage their children to strive hard in achieving academic and professional excellence so they may contribute back to society.
Daniel Koranteng is one of Ghana’s premier sports broadcasters. A passionate supporter of both Hearts of Oak and Manchester United, as well as avid tennis fan with particular preferences for Cristiano Ronaldo and Novak Djokovic; Daniel has even developed his own signature alter ego known as ‘The Oracle’ which he uses when offering up sports predictions.
Journalist by profession, she has interviewed many of the world’s biggest celebrities such as Spike Lee, Dan Craig and Harry Potter actors from their series. She regularly contributed to Variety as well as attending Broadcasting Press Guild lunches and breakfasts; was founder of JayKay Media Consultancy while editor/chief creative director for MediaTainment Finance/TechMutiny; Midem/Mipcom regular; contributing editor to Lions Daily News among many other accolades.
Achievement and Honors
She has made numerous presentations about mining advocacy and environmental concerns at national and international conferences. Additionally, she has organized multiple training programmes for communities and NGOs around the world on mining advocacy issues.
As a member of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative Board, she traveled worldwide meeting world leaders such as Her Excellency Mary Robinson and His Excellency Ingvar Carlsson. Additionally, she serves on Africa Union Informal Sector Taskforce representing Civil Society Organizations.
She has become an enthusiastic participant at BPG lunches and breakfast meetings, brightening each occasion with her presence and insightful questions. Additionally, she has written articles for media publications on various subjects pertaining to mining advocacy; in collaboration with NGO’s and communities.
As a journalist and broadcaster, Koranteng has worked on multiple media platforms. She has contributed her writing to publications like Variety as well as co-founding JayKay Media Consultancy as editor-in-chief for Midem, MipTV, and Mipcom events.
Koranteng is an avid football and tennis fan. Her favorite athletes include Cristiano Ronaldo and Novak Djokovic from soccer and tennis respectively; in addition, she proudly supports Hearts of Oak and Manchester United teams.
Koranteng would attend Variety’s BPG meetings regularly and brought her sparkling personality and smart questions that kept the conversations moving on global music and media trends – especially as an advocate for vulnerable communities’ rights. Her death will leave a large void in Ghana’s media scene.

Koranteng’s engaging personality makes him relatable for fans; additionally he’s often sought-out when providing predictions.
As well as his other credentials, Mr. Hazlewood holds credentials as a Trade Unionist/Industrial Relations Practitioner, Agriculturist, Human Resource Development Specialist, Professional Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Practitioner, Paralegal Poet Mining Activist Environmentalist. In addition, he serves as Executive Director for WACAM.
He is also an outspoken supporter of Ghanaians living abroad to vote in its elections, playing an instrumental role in pushing to have legislation pass permitting expatriates voting rights.
