Daniel is an award-winning teacher, director, actor, dancer and DJ. He taught Modern European Theatre and Global Theatres at Lewis-Clark State College to great acclaim; now at John Cabot University Rome as an adjunct faculty.
Dan has extensive experience advising local governments in debt financing transactions for local governments, including refunding analysis, credit enhancement strategy and bond proceed/escrow investment transactions. In addition, he assists them in their financial recovery efforts.
Early Life and Education
Daniel Roy Connelly is a former British diplomat who served in Italy, India, Bangladesh and Scotland. Now teaching at John Cabot University where he specializes in Shakespeare on Film, Creative Writing, Modern European Theatres and Global Theatres as well as writing his memoir Extravagant Stranger.
At Air Force Squadron Officer College, he sits on the Faculty Development Committee and as adjunct professor within its Department of International Security. Additionally, he has taught at both Air Command and Staff Colleges.
At the local government level, he has extensive experience providing financial consulting. This experience includes five-year financial planning and budgeting as well as financial feasibility analyses. Furthermore, he is registered with both the Securities and Exchange Commission as well as Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board as a municipal advisor.
Daniel Connelly possesses extensive experience in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, private equity investments, joint ventures and complex litigation matters.
He maintains a broad practice, representing companies and individuals before federal and New York state courts and agencies for white collar defense and regulatory compliance investigations. Additionally, he has handled bankruptcy, class action litigation and complex commercial litigation cases.
Daniel serves on the Financial Recovery Coordinator teams of both Chester and Colwyn Boroughs, where his primary responsibility is developing, monitoring, and implementing multi-year financial plans designed to eliminate projected budget deficits and move municipalities towards structural budgetary balance. Daniel also enjoys teaching dance lessons as well as performing as an actor. In his free time he hosts monthly swing dance event “Daniel and His Gang”. Daniel graduated Lewis-Clark State College with honors with a BA in Communication degree.
Achievement and Honors
Daniel Connelly has published more than 50 books, such as his best-selling title The Book of Isaias. His work has garnered numerous awards and grants; he founded Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre as well as performing in numerous local productions; additionally, Daniel also hosts an ongoing monthly swing dance party known as “Daniel and the Gang.”
At Suffolk County District Attorney, he was responsible for overseeing a $20 million budget and supervising 275 staff members from various backgrounds. His record included initiating groundbreaking initiatives designed to identify, correct and prevent wrongful convictions.
As Denver’s general manager, he prioritized discovering hidden gems with later picks that proved far more valuable than their draft positions would suggest. One key move he made during his tenure was sending 11th overall selection Doug McDermott back to Chicago for Nurkic and Harris; both players have since become key contributors on their respective teams.
Daniel, known for his memoir Extravagant Stranger and poetry collections such as Faltering Shadow, poetry theatre directorship and Shakespeare studies is an accomplished author whose works boast international intrigue as well as moments of self-exploration.
His work has enabled him to represent clients in numerous federal and New York State trial and appellate courts, and before various federal agencies such as the Department of Justice, Securities Exchange Commission and Food and Drug Administration.
He has provided guidance and consulting to local governments in the areas of strategic planning and financial consulting. His projects have included helping municipalities prepare five-year plans and budgets. Furthermore, he has worked with multiple governmental bodies providing economic impact analyses and financial feasibility analyses.
Dan Connelly is an experienced Certified Financial Planner with five years of experience, currently employed at Fidelity Personal and Workplace Advisors and holding both his Series 63 license as well as being registered to provide investment advice in Massachusetts and Texas.
He is also a writer and playwright who has directed award-winning theatre on three continents, winning international prizes for both poetry and drama. In terms of languages, he speaks Italian, average French and German as well as some Chinese (which he refuses to speak).
