Early Life and Education
Jack Reed witnessed his mother, a World War II veteran and school janitor, using the GI Bill to further the education of himself and his siblings. His parents taught them the value of hard work and helping others.
As an adult, he tirelessly worked to advance his career in education. He was known for creating spaces in which individuals could openly discuss their underlying assumptions, form more inclusive mindsets and share experiences among themselves.
He was also widely revered for his dedication to community service and philanthropy, particularly through Camp Harbor View in Boston’s underserved communities, where his dedication was notable among other charitable activities.
Jack Kay has been involved with numerous commercial real estate and renewable energy projects throughout his career, representing owners and developers in all aspects of real estate transactions including acquisition, sales, leasing, permitting development and construction as well as various financing matters related to renewable energy projects. John “Papa Jack” Kay Teaching Chair in Research Science was established at ‘Iolani School in honor of Papa Jack’s 52 year career and commitment to student scientific research.
Achievement and Honors
Chair Jack is well known in the legal world, but she also devotes considerable time and resources to charitable efforts that serve the welfare of her state and its residents. Over time, this dedication to serving their needs has garnered her numerous honors.
She has also been honored as a Fellow of the Scottish Legal Awards for her transformative work at the Law Society that improved transparency, governance and engagement significantly.
Heather Lenartson-Kluge received the Jack Breslin Distinguished Staff Award from MSU in 2023. This esteemed award honors six support staff members annually; Heather was one of six recipients honored this year. It recognizes those who embody Titan spirit through overall job performance, supportive attitudes, and contributions to campus life.
Jack was an enthusiastic traveller and animal enthusiast, known for sharing his knowledge through television programs about animal welfare. Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s has left him unable to recall much of his past life.
Jack had been sitting in a chair that provided no postural support or pressure management, leading him to suffer pain while hindering him in performing many of his daily tasks.
He now spends his days sitting in his new chair, thinking fondly of Julie, his two year old daughter who died of leukemia at two. He misses her greatly and hasn’t had the chance to attend any of her children’s weddings or meet his only great grandchild yet despite efforts of his family members to remain strong for each other in these difficult times.
Jack Dorsey is best known as co-founder of Twitter and Square, with an estimated net worth estimated to be over one billion dollars. Currently ranked 14th richest person in Asia by Forbes magazine and founder of Alibaba – China’s biggest e-commerce company.
Steve Christian thought his Table Jack invention had an estimated net value of $400,000 when he pitched it on Season 6 of “Shark Tank,” in 2014. Unfortunately, Barbara Corcoran, Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Kevin O’Leary, and Robert Herjavec did not see it that way and sent Christian away without any deal being struck.
He owns several tech-related companies besides Twitter and Square, such as SeatGeek (an online marketplace for car seats and strollers valued at an estimated value of over $1 billion), DeFi (an investment firm helping entrepreneurs invest in crypto) and many others.
