Among the stars of the 22nd annual BET Awards are rappers Chance The Rapper and Jack Harlow, singers Chloe and Giveon, and actor Taraji P. Henson, who serves as emcee of the show. In addition to her hosting duties, she presents awards like the Humanitarian Award and the Ultimate Icon Award.

During the BET Awards’ first year, the ceremony celebrated Black culture, music, and excellence. The event was held in Los Angeles, and aired on BET. Henson served as the night’s emcee. She opened the show with an unforgettable monologue about the Roe vs. Wade ruling. She also paid tribute to some of Black history’s most iconic figures.

She wore a gray Tom Ford gown. It featured an asymmetrical top and a thick steel chain strap securing it around her neck. It was adorned with tiny rhinestones. The gown also had a slit running up the side. She completed the look with a long ponytail.

Taking the stage for the second time, actress and actor Taraji P. Henson hosted the 22nd annual BET Awards on Sunday night from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater. The event is a celebration of Black excellence in music, movies, sports and other forms of entertainment.

Last year’s BET Awards had 2.4 million viewers across ViacomCBS networks. Henson has been nominated for an Oscar and an Emmy, and she has appeared in the films HIDDEN FIGURES, HURRICANE SEASON and LARRY CROWNE with Tom Hanks. She has also earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Henson is currently in the film THE COLOR PURPLE by director Blitz Bazawule. The musical movie follows the Tony-winning Broadway musical. The film will be released on December 20, 2023.

Taraji P. Henson presents the Lifetime Achievement Award

During the 19th annual BET Awards, Taraji P. Henson will host the event for a second time. She will also present the Ultimate Icon Award to Tyler Perry, who is the first recipient of this prestigious award.

Henson wore a gray Tom Ford gown adorned with a steel chain strap and thigh-high slits. She also wore wispy eyelashes and a pear-shaped diamond stud earring. The actress’s hair is a long, edgy ponytail. She finished her look with a glitzy red lip.

She will be joined by a powerful ensemble onstage during the awards show. Her outfit changes will include 14 different looks onstage. She will also perform in the Women In Music ceremony.

Several Hip Hop heavyweights are nominated for awards, including rappers Kendrick Lamar, Drake and Future. Rapper Chance the Rapper, whose art work was designed by Yannis Davy Guibinga, also received nods.

Hip Hop heavyweights Doja Cat, Baby Keem, Ari Lennox, and French Montana are also nominated. The list of nominees also includes 11 artists with three nominations.
