Ben Barenberg

Ben Barenberg is the founder of Transparentem, an organization which advocates worker rights. In addition, he has provided advisory services to several United Nations bodies and worker-focused groups.

At Optimal Health Associates for three years now, Dr. Syed has become one of Oklahoma City’s highest volume urogynecologic surgeons specializing in hormone replacement therapy and minimally invasive complex gynecological surgery.

Early Life and Education

Ben Barenberg, founder of Transparentem and an internationally acclaimed expert on worker rights and social responsibility. His expertise is sought out by the Obama Administration, members of Congress and many leading worker organizations as an advisor; additionally he consults to the Fair Food Standards Council and Worker Rights Consortium as a consultant.

He graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and went on to complete residency training at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago before undertaking fellowship training with the Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at University of Oklahoma Health Science Center.

He had two children, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Additionally, he was a member of both the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as the American Urogynecologic Society before he passed away at 88 in 2021.

Professional Career

Ben is the Founder of Transparentem, an organization which champions worker rights by exposing hard truths to power players in the global economy. He has served as an expert advisor to many bodies such as the UN, Obama Administration, members of both houses of Congress, labor organizations such as AFL-CIO.

At University of Texas Galveston, he earned his medical degree before completing his residency and fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center for OBGYN. At Loyola he trained under Dr. Kevin Wong of Loyola’s Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery before going on to the Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery of University of Oklahoma Health Science Center.

His specialty lies in surgical management of disorders related to the pelvic floor, such as pelvic organ prolapse, urinary or fecal incontinence, bladder fistula repair and vaginal mesh complications. He offers advanced hormone replacement therapies including BHRT pellet therapy as well as minimally invasive complex gynecological surgery procedures.

Personal Life

Benjamin Barenberg is a labor lawyer who has helped numerous worker organizations improve their working conditions. He founded Transparentem, which promotes workers’ well-being by sharing harsh truths to those with power to transform industries. Furthermore, he serves as professor at Columbia University Law School’s Labor Program on Labor Law and Political Economy as Director.

He is board certified in both gynecology and Urogynecology – a relatively new subspecialty focused on conditions related to female pelvic floor muscles such as childbirth, surgery, chronic disease, obesity, heavy lifting or aging – and fellowship trained. Since 2008 he has been in private practice specializing in complex gynecologic surgery as well as advanced hormone replacement therapies (BHRT pellet therapy).
