Born and raised in San Diego, California, Annette Bening studied theatre in the United States. Bening was a 1980 graduate of the American Conservatory Theatre. She then joined the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. She stayed with the theater company until 1983. She enrolled at San Diego Mesa College in 1984. There, she studied the theater and learned every aspect of the profession. Bening was a star in many shows, including Macbeth’s’ and Pygmalion’s. She also performed in two plays with the ‘San Diego Repertory Theatre’.
