Early Life and Education

Wu is both an accomplished swimmer and an entrepreneur. In 2017, he cofounded Gainful personalized supplements company; since then, California-based Sobo Foods – offering plant-based Asian comfort foods including frozen dumplings – was also founded.
Achievement and Honors
Adam Wu has been an eight-time finalist at the Canadian Swimming Trials and represented Canada at international swimming competitions. Currently swimming for Surrey Knights Swim Club in British Columbia and making verbal commitment to compete at Columbia University in 2022.
Wu’s research interests focus on the epidemiology of respiratory viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 and H7N9 influenza. His work involves investigating their transmission and spread using techniques from epidemiology, genomics, mathematics and computational modeling.
Adam Wu is actively engaged with numerous student organizations, such as Honors College, Honors Ambassadors, Federal Fellows program, Cru, Terp Thon and One Tent Health. He earned Magna Cum Laude in BSCI-Microbiology with a minor in Global Poverty; additionally he earned High Honors for his research conducted under Drs Richard Stewart (left) and Ira Herniter (right).
Personal Life
Wu has won praise on concert stages worldwide despite remaining firmly based in Houston. He has won top prizes at competitions like Lynn Harrell Competition and Houston Symphony Concerto Competition, performing alongside artists and conductors like Jaap Van Zweden, Robert Franz and Zheng Xiao-Ying.
He has also been an integral member of Singapore’s Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, teaching violin and chamber music as part of its faculty.
Wu is Columbia University’s inaugural qualifier to the NCAA meet for both meters and yards swimming, having made multiple finalist appearances at Canadian Swimming Trials as well as posting his conference best 200 freestyle time. His career is defined by hard work, perseverance and perseverance.
